When a scene feels flat, roll a small twist to add tension and momentum.

Why use complications#

Complications are small, believable twists. They don’t negate what just happened — they add texture: pressure, cost, time, risk, or new information. Use them when action stalls or success feels too easy.

How to use this table#

  1. When the scene needs a nudge, roll a d20.
  2. Read the prompt and adapt it to your context.
  3. Ask your oracle if outcomes are unclear.
  4. Note the change in your session log.

A simple two‑column table with d20 roll results and brief complication prompts.
