Beginner Mini‑Adventure

A quick solo walkthrough: setup, 2–3 scenes, and next hooks.

~5 min read

This printable mini‑adventure walks you through a short solo session. You’ll use a simple yes/no oracle and quick prompts to discover what happens.

Tip: Keep each scene focused on one clear goal. When unsure, ask the oracle, interpret the result, and move forward.

Intro & Setup#

  1. Pick a genre and a quick premise. Example: “You’re a courier delivering a sealed letter across a foggy city at night.”
  2. Choose your character’s name and a simple hook (role + goal). Example: “Street‑smart courier; get the letter delivered before dawn.”
  3. Grab an oracle: use the Oracle Generator or the Quick Oracle Reference.
  4. Open a journal page (paper or app). Title it with the premise; make a “Next hook” line at the bottom.

Scene 1#

Goal: Start in motion. State where you are and what you’re trying to do right now. Ask the oracle about the first obstacle or opportunity.

  • Frame the scene: “I cut through the market alleys to save time.”
  • Ask 1–2 yes/no questions when uncertain. Example: “Do I spot trouble ahead?”
  • Resolve outcomes with your system. Log 2–4 sentences in your journal.

Scene 2#

Goal: Escalate or pivot. Bring in a new detail, NPC, or complication. Keep momentum by asking one sharp question at a time.

  • Raise the stakes: add a cost, time pressure, or moral choice.
  • Use names from the Name Generator when NPCs appear.
  • Journal what changes and what you’ll try next.

Optional Twist#

Roll once on your oracle for a twist or surprise. Reframe the situation without derailing your goal. Examples: a betrayal, a shortcut that’s risky, or a clue that changes your route.

Wrap‑up & Next Hooks#

  • Did you deliver on the immediate goal? If yes, what opened up? If no, what stands in your way?
  • Write one “Next hook” sentence to start your following session.
  • Browse Oracles and Journals to expand your toolkit.
